Alexander Skarsgard who portrays the 1000-year-old vampire viking, Eric Northman on True Blood is featured in the December issue of the French magazine, DARK Mag. Alexander is interviewed in the magazine and discusses his character and the show just before season 2 premieres in France December 1st.
Alexander explains that when he first heard that True Blood was a show about vampires he wasn’t sure about it, wondered what it might look like, and actually thought that it was a joke. That was until he until he heard that Alan Ball was involved, who wrote and co-produced the award winning American Beauty film and TV series Six Feet Under. Once he heard that Alan was behind the creation of True Blood he knew it was going to be great.
Alexander admits that before True Blood he was never into the urban fantasy genre, however once he got the role of Eric he immersed himself into that universe 200%. He watched classic vampire films such as Nosferatu, Dracula with Bella Lugosi, to Francis Ford Coppola to study the vampires to give his role a credible and modern interpretation.
Since France will begin watching season 2 starting December 1st, Alexander explains in the interview the storyline that his character Eric will experience. He mentions that in season 1 the audience didn’t see much of Eric but in season two he plays a bigger role searching for his maker Godric, a 2000-year-old vampire who has disappeared. He describes how it is very important to Eric to find him and it allows the viewers to see another side on his character. A vampire who is very loyal and compassionate, which is rare among vampires. It shows that for him, being a sheriff is not just a job but a profession of faith.

“Well, Alexander is a lovely guy and I’m not just saying that because you are his fans! We cast him because we lost another (absolutely excellent) actor very late in the day. I have to say, we were looking at a few and since I was already in Greenland, I said, ‘Sod it! Get me the guy who has been Mr. Sweden five times!’ I was purely thinking, ‘Does he look like an Olympian (yes – he’s 6ft 4); Has he got a gentleness to contrast with the other actor – yes; has he done comedy (yes, Zoolander) and who cares about the first 3, let’s have him because we know we can sell to Sweden!’
When Alexander arrived on the ice we had already been there for some time and I think it was very difficult for him to join so late. We all already knew each other and were a unit. He was very earnest and he wanted to know the motivation of the characters, everything about them, but to tell you the truth I didn’t really want to tell him very much at all. I thought it would be very useful for him to not know us very well. To not know much about the character apart from what was there. I think initially Alexander may have found this difficult, but if you look at the scene it’s very fresh. Their improvisation is wonderful. You only really get one go at improv – when it’s totally real; the first time anyone speaks really is the first time anyone speaks and reacts. It’s magic that is difficult for even the best actors to replicate. Alexander shines the moment he comes on because he just let go and didn’t think too much. He just was. On set it can be difficult sometimes, when so many things are in your head, to know clearly when you’ve got what you need or what you were after. All our actors were brilliant in this film, but when Alexander was on set I always knew I had it. He was gorgeous in every sense. His fans are right to love him. He’s lovely!”
The photoshoot section was reorganized, I’ve added some pictures I had in my computer and also a new shoot taken in Sweden this month (thanks Laura!)

Alexander Skarsgård has become a real Hollywood star, but he doesn’t think he will lose control. Now he’s recreating his own Söder in Los Angeles – and he’s happy with being single.
Alexander Skarsgård is tanned. That happens when you live in Los Angeles, he explains. He’s still looking for a place to live in Venice Beach, where his colleges and friends from True Blood, Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, already are living.
– It’s one of the few areas where you actually can walk. I grew up on Söder and I am accustomed to having my friends living in the neighborhood and that we gather at our favorite places and I miss that. So I’m trying to recreate a mini Söder in Venice.
“Åke Och Hans Värld” was the very first Alexander movie, done when he had 6 years old. It tells the history of Åke, a six years old boy who lives with his parents and sister, and have as best friend Kalle Nubb (Alexander), a boy which mom is dead and father’s an alcoholic.
I was able to make some screencaptures of this movie, it’s up in the gallery. The captures are low quality, but it’s baby ASkars, so I’m sure no one will complain. Enjoy the cuteness!

The swede Cafe Magazine is out, and I’ve added scans and the whole article translated. Would like to thanks nemo_88 and minorsport for both.

Early mornings and late night with the True Blood star.

Now more prestigious projects are waiting: from big picture Straw Dogs to comedy Puss [trans note: "Kiss" in Swedish]. Martin Gelin shadows Sweden’s latest Hollywood star during a normal day in Los Angeles with crazy agent meetings, late bar rounds, and gossip-thriving bloggers.
Howdy! My name is Luciana and I’m the new proud owner of Alexander Skarsgård Source. Mel, my friend and previous owner wasn’t able to continue with the site and offer me the ownership since ‘m a big Alex fan. Mel did a great job and I hope to continue it, in the same high quality she did before.
To start, I changed the gallery’s theme (and work a little bit with the thumbnails, made it bigger – I love it, you can use some as avatar, it’s perfect.
This site will continue updating you in everything regarding Alex career. Paparazzi pictures and gossip news won’t be supported here, I’m sure there’s plenty of sites where you can find it. My intention is let this place the most respectful and focused on Alex work possibly.

With a dad like Stellan Skarsgård, that has a long history of Swedish films and TV-series as well as international productions and big Hollywood movies behind him, the pressure on the sons of the Skarsgård family is hugh. Nevertheless this hasn’t prevent Alexander, Gustav and Bill Skarsgård from choosing the actor career like their father.
The good-looking Alexander is the oldest and the most successfull actor so far among the three sons. He was last seen as the vampire Eric in True Blood, the addictive serie showed in Sweden this Autumn by the creator of Six feet under, Alan Ball. Even though Gustav is not as famous as his father and older brother, he is most likely to catch up. His filmography so far is not bad, with smaller parts in more than 20 films and TV-series. He was also elected “The Shooting star of the year” during Berlin’s film festival 2007. Bill who is only 19 years old has, like his brothers, already participated in several films and will play the main character in the Swedish film” Himlen är oskyldigt blå” that will premier on cinemas this weekend.
Even if you don’t recognize the name Stellan Skarsgård, or knew he was Swedish, you have probably seen him on the screen already. In Exorcist: the Beginning he played one of the main roles as Father Merrin, in Pirates of the Caribbean he played Will’s father Bootstrap Bill and in the TV-serie Entourage he did a guest performance as an arrogant film director. This Automn Stellan is, together with Alexander, performing in the animated movie Metropia that has Swedish film premier this weekend. Book a ticket and form your own opinion of the Swedish Skarsgård family.
Alex is listed as one of the sexiest man for the anual People issue, that bring us with Johnny Depp as the sexiest man alive.
Alex is listed as “Sexiest Bad Boy”:
“Ever since I was a kid, my mom would scold me for being a bad boy. ‘Don’t fight with the other kids, don’t talk back to your elders, be nice to all the girls.’ So here I am actually getting an award for being a bad boy. Thank you, People magazine. I can’t wait to tell my mom.”
