As we have already reported, several of the cast recently went to Paris for the premiere of True Blood Season 2. Here’s the interview (translated from French to English) with Alexander Skarsgård.
Tony Cotte: You appear in the first season of True Blood, but your character becomes much more important in Season 2. Did you expect this trend by starting of the filming of the series?
Alexander Skarsgård: Before starting the first episodes of True Blood, I read the first five volumes of the Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries (from which books are based). Eric isn’t there until the second book, except for a brief mention in the first. So, I knew that I did not have much work to be done before taking more importance during the second season.
Tony Cotte: Has the evolution of your character had an impact on how people see you?
Alexander Skarsgård: Actually, things have changed dramatically between the first and second season. At first, nobody knew me; I was wearing a long wig. For the latest episodes, this is my real hair. Suddenly, people came to me saying that Eric was the devil. I always defended my character because it is much more than that. Having read the books, I know he has more depth than being simply Bill’s evil boss. Eric has a sensitive side; he can be very loyal, be a good friend and have compassion.
